We’re Planning: After many months of hard work, our Age-Friendly Action Plan has been submitted for approval to AARP! With the help of many community advocates and leaders, we convened throughout the summer to review our data and to develop our strategies in the areas of Health Systems, Services and Supports, Housing, Transportation, Outdoor Spaces and Buildings, Communication, Information Systems, and Social Integration. We’re Supporting: November is National Caregiving Month.
In Licking County, it is estimated that one in every five older adults lives alone, and an estimated 3,000-10,000 residents provide unpaid caregiving to someone who is 50 or older. Many of these caregivers are between 40 and 65 years old and work either full-time or part-time. Businesses with caregiving support strategies benefit from improved worker retention and morale. We’re Engaging for Good:
Our 2024 Licking County Community Assessment revealed that 40% of our respondents are aged 60+ years old and volunteer regularly. Nearly half of those volunteers said that they participate more than once a week.
